I’m a Teacher and Our Latino Family Gives Scholarships To Students Every Year

The Cervantes Fund for Social Justice

Annual Fundraiser

Roaring ‘20s Casino Night, September 29, 2018.

The Cervantes Fund for Social Justice was founded in 2003 by me, my father, and my older brother. We created this family non-profit as a way to give back to the community which not only raised us but also gave us so many opportunities to thrive. Our current Board of Directors consists entirely of multi-generations of our Cervantes family.

Since 2007, the Cervantes Scholars Scholarship Program has been our way to directly help the youth of the San Fernando Valley. The $200 scholarship is given to a deserving 5th grade student, and it can be renewed EVERY YEAR until the student graduates from high school. It is a seven year commitment to the child’s family. In 12th grade, the student receives a $500 final scholarship. The funds help the selected students buy essential school supplies and school uniforms.

Our annual fall fundraiser is our main fundraiser of the year. Each year we select a theme for the event in hopes of giving our donors a truly enjoyable and unforgettable experience. Some of these themes have included Tequila Tastings, Mariachi Nights, Luaus, and Halloween Costume parties. This year we are very excited about our 1920s Casino Night theme. It is an opportunity for donors to “dress up” and live the fantasy of going to a ‘20s-era speakeasy.

We invite La Comadre network to join us for a truly exciting FUNdraising event to help the kids of the San Fernando Valley. We look forward to seeing you on September 29, 2018. Tickets can be purchased here. The $30 pre-sale ticket includes open bar, all you can eat taquero food, live DJ and dancing, and $200 in Casino Night “funny money”!!!
