Mavis Salazar a child of the Chicano moment born and raised in Denver, Colorado from two strong Chicano leaders. She is a Curandera, and in 2009 was adopted in ceremony by 63 Mayan communities in the Mayan Nation, Guatemala and became the first Chicana ordain Mayan Priest. She has her Master’s in Indigenous/Integrative Health and is a registered Therapist specializing in traditional and transitional therapy working with individual, adolescent and family therapy, Trauma release and maintains a private practice in Denver, Colorado. She owns her business Grandmother’s House of Herbs and Cures and is Executive Director of Ceiba-USA nonprofit organization.
