As a result of the latest edict out of the evil empire (the “White” House, and I do want to emphasize white), more than 200,000 Salvadorans will be required to leave the country. In a move that is eerily reminiscent of the worst time in international history, the Hitler era, America’s very own fascist has set his sights on expelling Latinos and other predominantly non-white people from the US. And this really feels like the plot to advance the “white nationalist” agenda that some have suggested he has.
In a mass deportation move that would send more than 200,000 Salvadorans back to El Salvador by ending the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program. The TPS program was also halted for Haitians back in November of 2017 by the same backward thinking administration. Nicaraguans and Hondurans have also been affected by the ending of TPS policy.
TPS provided provisional residency permits for eligible applicants from these countries. Many have been in the United States for years and have families, children in our schools, jobs here, and have received higher education here. They are established members of our society. Our schools will be directly impacted by the TPS elimination. It is estimated that there are 192,000 U.S. citizen children of Salvadoran TPS holders.
The Washington Post article states the following:
“This is part of a strategic, full-court press to make America less hospitable to immigrants, both legal and illegal. Immigration enforcement arrests are up 40 percent, Trump has slashed the number of refugees allowed into the United States to the lowest level since 1980 and the Justice Department has tried to crack down on “sanctuary cities” during his first year.”
La Comadre won’t sugar coat it. This a full court press to “Make America White Again” and carry out a white nationalist agenda that obviously includes the expulsion of as many people of color as possible. Sound familiar? It should, it’s the same way that Adolf Hitler started in Germany. The difference maybe is that Hitler was evil by design, Donald Trump is evil by ignorance.
Policies and actions have shown how this administration feels about the Latino community. The fact that the President is also now holding DREAMers hostage as leverage to pay for a border wall he promised would be paid for by Mexico is another example of his cruel mindset.
In California, lawmakers have fought back against policies coming from the Trump administration that would be detrimental to the residents of the great state of California.
Assembly Members Wendy Carrillo and Miguel Santiago are working to find funding that could be used by Salvadoran nationals to seek legal help. They are requesting $10 million to go into a state legal defense fund to support those impacted by the TPS elimination.
Additionally, the state of California has been declared a “sanctuary state” effective January 1st, 2018 with the passage of SB 54 (Kevin De Leon). But today, lawmakers are doubling down with an introduction of two new bills to add more teeth to SB54! Senator Ricardo Lara, posted this graphic on his social media accounts this morning:
California is fighting back on policies, but we are limited as to what we can do. What we can all do right now is support these lawmakers and their efforts.
There is no doubt that the current administration, much like the Hitler regime in Germany, has more pernicious policies in its agenda that we don’t yet know about. The difference today has to be us. We need to continue to fight back, to support leaders that will fight for us in our state legislatures and in Washington, D.C.!
Elections in 2018 will be critical! Everything the evil empire is doing can be undone if we elect the right people!
