The City of Los Angeles is now offering the Angeleno card program, a pre-paid debit card with amounts ranging from $700, $1,100, and $1,500 depending on income qualifications, family size, and financial hardship faced due to reduced work hours and stay-at-home orders. “Applicants will not be asked anything about their immigration status,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said Monday night. “We are all Angelenos.” The possible payment structure follows the graph below:
Due to surging demand, the website is currently having maintenance issues, but applicants are encouraged to apply via telephone, and continue trying online as program staff are providing ongoing maintenance to the website. Debit cards will begin reaching those in need by Monday, April 20.
You can apply for the debit cards at hcidla.lacity.org or by calling 213-252-3040 starting at 8:30 a.m. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. this Thursday, April 16.
