Comadres, welcome back to another election cycle! This year we have some promising newcomers to the game of politics. Here at La Comadre, we like to showcase candidates and introduce them to our readers. As the June 7th primary approaches, we’ll be highlighting a few standouts that we think you should consider.
With all that said, I want to introduce you to Seydi Alejandra Morales. Seydi is a candidate for State Senate in the newly drawn Senate District 20. State Senate District 20 is in the center of the San Fernando Valley and encompasses the following communities:
Burbank, San Fernando, Sylmar, Pacoima, Sun Valley, North Hollywood, Lakeview Terrace, Sunland-Tujunga, Arleta, North Hills, Mission Hills, Northridge, Panorama City, Van Nuys, Lake Balboa, Reseda, Winnetka, Canoga Park, and Canyon Country.
Senate District 20 was recently drawn, based on information from the 2020 census. It is now more than 50% Latino and, as such, we should have Latino/a representation in this district. Seydi seeks to be the first Latina elected as state senator in this district.
Seydi is not a career politician. She does not come with a built-in political machine of backers or with well-known political names of famous legislators attached to her. However, with those omissions comes also the omission of political baggage. Seydi is a longtime resident of the San Fernando Valley who cares and wants to represent her community with honor and grace. Ms. Morales is an attorney who understands legislation and advocacy.
If you’re looking to support and endorse a great candidate that cares about people and isn’t tainted by the usual political baggage, take a good look at Seydi Alejandra Morales and get behind a candidate that is for the people of Senate District 20.
